We ask that new clients commit to weekly sessions at the onset of treatment as we establish care. Most weekly clients have a fixed, recurring time in our calendar each week, and that is our recommendation for the greatest consistency and guarantee of access. Once treatment is established and specific goals are being met, some clients opt for sessions every other week due to time, finances, or emotional bandwidth. Bi-weekly clients typically don’t have a standing, permanent time in our schedules, but rather book session-to-session based on the week’s availability.
We offer in-person sessions in the heart of Pasadena at Palomares Therapy. We are able to treat all California residents via telehealth. Many of our clients opt for a hybrid model where they jump between in-person and telehealth depending on their needs each week.
Because of the nature of the therapy we offer, we are unable to work with new clients sporadically. Established clients who are meeting treatment goals will be encouraged to eventually taper down sessions when ready, normally towards the end of treatment as we prime for termination.
Every case is different, so this is a difficult question to answer. Typically, individuals with complex trauma and attachment injury should anticipate being in therapy for at least a year. EMDR clients who are looking to process isolated incidents of trauma may find that their treatment is faster if they do not have a history of C-PTSD. Most families and couples should anticipate being in treatment for 6-12 months at a minimum. You are unique, and so your treatment progression will be unique.

Palomares Therapy does not accept insurance, however many of our clients utilize their own insurance by submitting superbills if they have out-of-network (OON) reimbursement. We highly recommend contacting your insurance provider prior to the onset of treatment to confirm your benefits.

At Palomares Therapy, we believe clients are best supported when connected with care that closely matches their clinical needs, developmental stage, and treatment goals.
At this time, we are not currently accepting children under the age of 10. While we value child therapy deeply, our approach to working with younger children is rooted in non-directive, child-centered play therapy, which is best facilitated within a fully equipped and immersive play therapy environment.
We also do not currently provide court-mandated therapy, custody-related services, or court-involved treatment.
In situations where a client may benefit from more comprehensive wraparound support or a higher level of care, we are committed to helping connect them with appropriate referrals and resources whenever possible.
We can work with clients individually or as their couples/ family therapist, but we cannot treat multiple people from the same family as their individual therapist. It is important that every person has their own unbiased, contained space for processing.
When working with couples and families, much of the therapeutic work happens together within the relational system itself. At times, however, individual breakout sessions may be incorporated throughout treatment to explore experiences, emotions, or dynamics that may feel more appropriate to process privately before bringing them back into the larger therapeutic work.
Depending on the needs of the family or relationship system, sessions may also occasionally involve different combinations of family members or partners.
Because therapy works best within a clear and cohesive treatment relationship, we typically do not provide ongoing individual therapy concurrently with another primary therapist. Exceptions may occasionally be made for adjunctive services, such as EMDR, on a case-by-case basis.
Many clients do work collaboratively with psychiatrists, occupational therapists, physicians, dietitians, or other members of a broader care team. In these situations, clients may be asked to sign Releases of Information (ROIs) so that care can be coordinated thoughtfully, safely, and effectively when clinically appropriate.
Our Pasadena office is located within a historic Spanish landmark property and includes a ramp-accessible entrance as well as an accessible parking space.
If you have accessibility needs or questions about the space, we warmly encourage you to reach out prior to your appointment so we can discuss accommodations and help determine whether the office environment will be an appropriate fit for your needs. Telehealth services are also available for all clients.
To help protect the health and wellbeing of clients and clinicians, we ask that clients avoid attending in-person sessions when experiencing contagious illness symptoms whenever possible.
If a client or therapist becomes ill, sessions can typically be transitioned to telehealth whenever clinically appropriate. Masks are also welcome and can be accommodated upon request.
Palomares Therapy has a 48-hour notice cancellation policy. Clients who cancel outside of the window are charged the full session fee.
